Wear pink tomorrow to help prevent bullying

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Don’t forget to wear pink tomorrow to help bring awareness to bullying. Shannon and I both experienced bullying growing up in school and it is an occurrence that a child should never ever experience. So please wear pink tomorrow to help prevent bullying.

In other news, Shannon and I will be flying to Toronto next week to present the ‘Youth Award’ at the ‘National Aboriginal Achievement Awards’. The awards will be aired on television on both ‘APTN’ and ‘Global Television’.

Emily is in Vancouver with Shannon and I and we have both been doing our very best to help make her happy during these sad times. Aunty Jacquie was was a wonderful, happy and kind lady and she will be missed!

Much Love, Shauna Mae Baker

Aunty Jacqui

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Our Aunty Jacqui passed away yesterday morning. It really hit everyone pretty hard. It was very unexpected. I really feel for all of my cousins on that side of the family. She left behind six children.

I know that Jacqui really left an imprint on my family’s hearts. She was very close with my younger sister Emily. Aunty Jacqui really cared for Emily and has been babysitting Emily since Emily was just a toddler. It broke my heart when my mother told me that when she told Emily about Aunty Jacqui passing away, Emily instantly collapsed. I don’t know how nine year old children deal with death, but, I can only imagine that it is very hard.

The one thing I will always remember about Aunty Jacqui is that she was always happy and smiling. She always had something nice to say. In fact, I have never seen her unhappy, upset or mad. She was just happy. She touched everyone with that special way of hers and we are all the better for having known and loved her. We miss you so much, Aunty Jacqui, and we will always keep you in our hearts.
