Our cousin Danielle Ogen is raising money to volunteer to help build a pre-school for underprivliged children Nicaragua children in Managua, Nicaragua with an organization called School Box. She will be volunteering for 10 days on June 3, 2008. She has been raising her own funds for airfare, hotel, meals and toys for the children.

For people living in the Fraser Lake area she is having a Fundraiser outside the slenyah store on our reservation of Stellat’en. She is also having silent auction bids, lasagna sales, 50/50 squares, and yard sile items. Cash donations are also accepted!

The screening of the sci-fi film ‘Xylophobia’ where Shannon Baker plays the lead role ‘Annika’ is being premiered at Granville 7 Cinema at 855 Granville Street in Vancouver on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 7pm.

Xylophobia: defined as a persistent, abnormal, irrational, and unwarranted fear of wood, wooden objects, or forests, symptoms of which typically include longness of breath, high-pitched wheezing, and hysterical fits of morose laughter.

A Magazine Cover that Shannon and I were on won an award! A panel of some of the world best designers chose the First Nations anti-tobacco magazine, UnFiltered, as one of best pieces of visual communications created last year at the Graphex 2008 awards. The exhibit of winning entries will now tour Canada:

In other news, Shannon and I are finally starting to organize the ‘BT Girl Calendar’ release party! Yay!! The party will be in Vancouver in June, 2008. I will keep you updated on details but there will definitely be a runway show featuring the ‘BT Girls’ on the catwalk, singers, rappers and the video premier of the ‘Behind the scenes at each BT Girl Calendar photoshoot’. Of course the calendars will be there as well. Ha ha ha.
